Meet Don McCaig

Born and raised in a small Texas town, my spiritual journey began early within the walls of my family’s church. At 17, during a youth event, I felt a distinct calling—God wanted me in vocational ministry.

My academic pursuit in theology has been both rigorous and enriching. I hold a B.A. in Practical Theology from Howard Payne University, an M.T.S. in Preaching, and an M.Div in Leadership from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am a doctoral student at Dallas Theological Seminary focusing on Church Health. My Ph.D. dissertation at Wycliffe School of Theology will be completed by Spring 2024.

My pastoral journey has spanned across Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma, predominantly as Lead Pastor. With a focus on church revitalization and planting, I’ve witnessed firsthand the ebbs and flows of congregational life.

In 2020 and 2021, as the challenges of the pandemic unfolded, I became acutely aware of a spiritual weakness within the church at large. The responses from many Christians were marked by spiritual immaturity and lacked a Biblical foundation. Once the pandemic ended, cultural pressures intensified in different but equally challenging ways, particularly around topics such as sexuality, gender, Scripture’s infallibility, and the essence of obedience to Christ. It eventually became clear: the broader church community needed spiritual depth. Equally, Pastors and church leaders grappling with these pressing issues and how to help their people deal with them needed someone to come alongside them to provide answers and insights that could make sense in the local church context, not just an academic journal.

The core of my mission stems from personal encounters with Scripture’s transformative power. Time and again, I’ve observed congregants resonate with the profound yet accessible truths of theology when it’s explained in simple language. Their eyes light up and come alive when God’s truths jump off the page of Scripture and into their hearts. Their sentiments underscore my conviction: every believer deserves a robust, practical understanding of God’s Word.

Outside the pulpit and academia, I enjoy training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, playing bass guitar in my band, dinner dates with my wife, and physical fitness. As a brand ambassador for Jocko Fuel, I advocate for a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

Looking ahead, my vision is clear: to amplify theological truths through compelling speaking engagements and insightful publications. With aspirations to author books and host a helpful podcast, I am committed to ensuring theology remains accessible, relevant, and transformative for the church and beyond.
